So today I’m off to Tasmania for a week with the old folks and I won’t be taking my computer but I will be taking lots of those little books for students you get for 50 cents so I can write ideas down, and also taking my camera and lots of tapes to record scenery – you never know what you’ll need. I have quite a few ideas for a trilogy though, running through my head. Even though I’m making one film now, and it will have a stand-alone story, I was just watching the second Pirates of the Caribbean film with the commentary by Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio (two writers I hold in high regards), and they keep mentioning little things cryptically but now the third film’s come out you understand what they are talking about. They’re also talking a lot about a principal you apply to storytelling and film-making: giving the audience 2 and 2 and letting them put them together to 4 by themselves. So the moral of this story is: I want to do a trilogy. I already have an idea I like which works with what I’ve already got and I’m getting really excited. I shouldn’t get too excited though – I still have ONE movie to make, let alone three. I really just want to get noticed with this film, even though it will be shot on tape, but I also want to put a bit in that I can reiterate upon in future films. I already know that this film (The Ghost of Molly Brown) is going to be a stand-alone grindhouse-type film. Hopefully by the time I do the other two I will have made a name for myself and actually have money to use, but the point is I want all three films to be different from each other but still maintain the same quality of the characters, but I want very different visual styles for the second and third films, but later down the line this idea may sizzle up under scrutiny; but it’s just I don’t want to do aged films all my life, but I do know that the aging in this first film is meant to be some sort of a character in the film, other than just covering up the crappy camerawork.

So, I guess I’ll rant on later. Cheers!

Check back soon.

Hi there. I know I need to update soon. But trust me, I will. Pre-production is starting and the film will be done by this Christmas so throughout the year I’ll be releasing a podcast entitled “Prodcast” documenting the production. I’m still figuring out when to release it, whether it be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. But trust me, you will hear the voice of genius!
