Welcome to my Ghost of Molly Brown blog detailing the aspects of production on my film.

So,  I had this idea inspired by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s film Grindhouse. I have been wanting to do an aged film for a while and somehow I ended up with this chick who gets brutally murdered and her ghost looks for her killer with the help of a zombie. I’m making it with a few friends and even fewer dollars, but I’ve said since I decided to do this that I don’t want to make the best film out there. I want to make a film, whether it shitty or it’s awesome, period. I just want to make something.

So when I say this was inspired by Grindhouse, I also know that this movie won’t be a grindhouse, i.e. exploitation film, exploiting anything profoundly offensive, neither will it be a kid friendly movie. If it will exploit anything, it will exploit expletives, perhaps a little violence (well, it’s about a chick who gets brutally murdered so it sorta needs violence).

But, like Grindhouse, this will be a theatrical experience, complete with corny public-domain drive-in ads and fake trailers along with a little serial that no one will understand because it’s going to be the middle of a non-existing serial.

I’m half-way, maybe even a quarter-way through the outline. I might try and add more to it if not finish it so I can give it to my mates, see what they think.

But as far as awareness goes, besides this blog, I have sent information to an assistant editor of an Australian film production magazine called Inside Film. They have a section where they list films being made in Australia at the moment. There’s quite a variety, hopefully in the next issue my film will be there. I have also sent the information about my film to the Internet Movie Database.

I have a generic release date because I am not sure if I want to send my film to any festivals or not…

So welcome to my blog about the making of the film and I hope you keep coming back to see what’s going on!
